I just found out that we have to take this test at the end of the semester!

I thought it was an admissions test! Needless to say...now I am scared!

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

I just finished taking the LPN version of the Hesi after my peds class. It was a breeze. It is taken to see what the chances are that you would pass the NCLEX-PN, and my chances of passing the NCLEX-PN were 99.99% according to the Hesi test. We had to make a 85% grade or better for our institution would recommend us for taking the NCLEX-PN. Don't stress over this test. It's not that big of a deal.

Now, if you're taking the NCLEX-RN hesi test I don't really know what to tell you. I haven't taken that test yet.

The RN HESI was basically the same as the LPN HESI purpose wise. It determines what the probability of you passing boards at that point in time. It is also used to show where you are weak. My school made you remediate if you were less than 85%. Know several class mates who did. I test well enough that was not a problem for me:imbar Use the same test stratiges(?) that work for you now. don't panic, it does not keep you from taking boards.

I TOOK THE RN HESI IN MAY OF THIS YEAR, TO ME IT WAS NOTHING LIKE STATE BOARDS (SCORED 99.99 PROBABILITY) HESI WAS MORE KNOWLEDGE BASED VS CRITICAL THINKING. HOWEVER MY FRIEND HAS TAKEN HESI 3 TIMES AND CANNOT GET TO THE REQUIRED 87% THAT MY SCHOOL REQUIRED. THE PERSON WHO LAST POSTED THAT IT DOES NOT KEEP YOU FROM TAKING BOARDS IS WRONG IF SHE IS FROM MY CITY. I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHAT OTHER SCHOOLS CALL REMEDIAL WORK FOR NOT PASSING HESI. MY FRIEND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE SHE DID NOT MEET THE STANDARD OF 87% ON HESI, SHE WOULD HAVE TO AUDIT THE LAST YEAR OF NURSING BEFORE SHE CAN RETAKE HESI WHICH WILL PUT HER BACK A YEAR. SOME ONE FROM ILLINOIS PLEASE RESPOND

You can't take take the NCLEX-RN if you don't pass the Hesi with a grade of 85% or higher if you attend my school. Not all schools in South Carolina make you take the Hesi test. My school is the only one that I'm aware of that makes their students take this test.

My school required that students pass w/ 85% on the Hesi, if the student didn't meet this percentage you had 2 more chances- if he/she did not pass on the 3rd time they had to stay an extra quarter or something like that. I think you will do fine - most people pass the 1st time.

HESI is not based on a percentage. There is no such thing as an 85%. The highest score you can get is a 99.99. I got a 99.54 and I missed 29 questions out of 150. The test is really good at finding your weak areas. You'll get a printed sheet with this information so you can take home.

If I had a scanner I would scan the report and show you were it says 99.99% passing. My hesi was based on a percentage.

I can send you the page of the directions that say you must make a 85% to pass and graduate.

I'm in Illinois, we needed 85%, with 3 tries, if you didnt score 85% you remediated your last semester. I think the remediation is school based, not state based. They also use those scores for their accredidation process. And just for the record, i hated the HESI,, it was nothing like the NCLEX-RN. I suggest you study for it and get through it the first time.

I got 99.99 and i would sit for the NCLEX 3 times rather than take HESI again. It isnt a test to be taken lightly.
