What to expect now...

Hi, my name is Chase and I have just been accepted into the pre-licensure to BSN program for the fall. I am nervous and happy all at the same time. I have been trying to read up on what to expect during my first semester but I am getting mixed reviews. Some say its hard and you have to abandon all social life and others say it is easy and they work a job on the side. If anyone has any insight I would really appreciate it!

I was just accepted to a school in TN and have heard the same thing, that the next year will be completely taken over by the course. I've pretty much just accepted that for now, in my mind the end result is worth the year of studies, and I love a good challenge, good luck my friend 😊

It pretty comes down to yourself. I had a few classmates that never had to touch the book (aside from references, careplans and such) and got straight A's. Some, like myself, have to bury ourselves in the book and read over and over again. Depending on how you study and how well you do in school will allocate the time for other things. My last semester (cardiac and neuro) was surprisingly easy for most of my class where we got to go out and socialize quite often. Other classes like pediatrics had most, if not all students staying indoors and reading 24/7 lol.

Then again, I'm talking about an associates degree program, not too sure how a BSN program works.

I am sure some programs are easier than others. All you can do is adjust after you get a feel on how tough your program is going to be.

This. A lot of this comes down to how effective you are about budgeting and using your time. Lots of people complain bitterly that nursing school takes over their entire life and they have no time for anything else, but, if you look more closely, these are often people who are not good at time management.
