dear human resources manager:

i am writing to express my interest in serving as an rn at xx children's hospital. it is important to me that arkansas children's hospital is always advancing and has an excellent reputation for nursing excellence. it says a lot of the quality care you provide.

my experience and education have provided me with excellent knowledge of patient assessment and treatment including medical surgical practices, acute patient care, and patient relations. this, coupled with my attention to detail, organizational and communication skills will allow me to make a substantial contribution to your company.

you may be interviewing other potential registered nurses, but i hope you will not make a final decision until i can talk over this job with you and show you want i can bring to it.

i am looking forward for an interview with you to discuss my education and experience. if you would like to contact me, my phone number is xxx, and my e-mail address is xxx. thank you for considering my application and cover letter. i'm really looking forward to meeting you.

dear human resources manager:

i am writing to express my interest in serving as an rn at xx children's hospital. it is important to me that arkansas children's hospital is always advancing and has an excellent reputation for nursing excellence. it says a lot of the quality care you provide.

my experience (how much experience? where? -- especially if it's as an rn and at a higher level hospital.) and education (do you have your bsn? if so, include this.) have provided me with excellent knowledge of patient assessment and treatment including medical surgical practices, acute patient care, and patient relations. this, coupled with my attention to detail, organizational and communication skills will allow me to make a substantial contribution to your company (organization? most hospitals don't really like to think of themselves as companies.)

you may be interviewing other potential registered nurses, but i hope you will not make a final decision until i can talk over this job with you and show you what (not want) i can bring to it. this sentence is a little clunky. could you change it to something like, "i am certain that you have many applicants for each position in today's job market. i would greatly value the opportunity to speak with you in person and discuss the characteristics that i believe would make me the best fit for this job."

do you have certifications? are you a cpn? pals? nrp? if you are, i'd include those here. what makes you a stronger candidate than sally jo?

.

i am looking forward for an interview with you to discuss my education and experience. if you would like to contact me, my phone number is xxx, and my e-mail address is xxx.thank you for considering my application and cover letter. i'm really looking forward to meeting you. (in this paragraph, i usually say something like, "i am available for interview at your convenience. i can be reached via telephone at xx and e-mail at xx to arrange a time to discuss the unique qualifications that i can bring to xx children's hospital. thank you for your consideration of my application and resume. i look forward to meeting you soon.)

[color=#505050]respectfully yours,

xxx, rn

hope this helps! good luck!

Make sure in your cover letter that you somewhere say something about the hospitals mission statement... Like this is what I wrote in my cover letter ---

St. XXX Regional Medical Center's dedication to patients is evident. I would love the chance to become a part of this community because I am also committed to compassionate care of my patients, and continuous quality improvement.

The Mission statement for that hospital was "Our Vision -- St. XXX Healthcare System will be recognized as a leading health care provider of choice in New Jersey. It will be characterized by the excellence of its health care services, its focus on compassionate care of its patients, and by a culture of continuous quality improvement."

And when then you can just change the sentence to fit into any hospitals mission statement. I was told by a nurse recruiter that this shows that the person who wrote this in their letter was interested in the hospital and took the time to research it.
