Your BSN? I am going for my ADN and I might end up being on the waiting list. I have heard someone else say that they would go ahead and take some of their pre req for their BSN and then be done with it 2 semesters after their ADN. I am not sure the benefits for going for BSN, could someone help me please?

You have a lot more flexibility in terms of career moves or future education (going to grad school).

I am getting my prereq out of the way and when I apply for nursing schools, I apply for both ADN and BSN schools. I plan to take which ever accept me first. If both an ADN and a BSN school accept me, I will have other criteria in terms which school to accept.

Basically, I try to get my A&P, micro, nutri, human development, and other gen ed out of the way. Then I apply. When I wait, I'll take the chem and stat (require for most BSN program) when I am waiting.

What I don't want happened is I wait 2 years to get into a BSN program and in the mean time I could have gotten into a ADN program and have a head start. Remember you are going for the RN. After the RN (if I take the ADN route), then I'll try to get the BSN doing some "bridge" program or hopefully have the institution that hires me fund the rest of my schooling.

Oh, also the ASN been trying to have the entry level for a RN to be a BSN, not at the ADN level. This probably not going to be happening soon. But if it does happen, you'll be in a much better shape to have a BSN instead unless you like where you are a lot.

Lots of bridge programs from ADN to BSN are like 1 year to 1 1/2 year long. Where I am at, I heard the local university really like bridge program students because they already gotten their clinicals already.

All things being equal, I would go for a BSN instead. In my case, I actually would like to go for an ADN first and then a BSN due to other factors that i am dealing with.

Lots of threads on ADN versus BSN versus Diploma education. Suggest you do a good search thru the archives to help you decide. You will notice it's a hotbutton issue with many already. Best wishes, whatever you decide to do.
