Weird ways to remember A&P stuff

Published

Specializes in 2 years as CNA.

I was just studying and thinking about how I have such strange ways to remember things. I have to associate words with eachother in some way to remember anything.

The other day we had our first quiz in A&P II on the endocrine system. I got the quiz and was sailing through it but then got stumped on two questions. Finally I remembered that I had associated Adrenal Cortex to aldosterone and cortisol since they all begin with A and C. Luckily I remembered that and got the question right. I ended up making a 110 on the quiz. Yes I aced it and got the bonus, YIPPEEEE!!!!

Anyway that case really isn't that strange but that is what just came to mind. I know in A&P I had lots of ways to associate stuff.

I was just curious what strange things do others due to remember some of the tough stuff?

I had a TON from AP1...not as many for AP2. I think my summer session AP2 class just moved too fast for me to make anything up!

I posted a song I wrote about intramembraneous ossification...but you probably already dealt with bones. I sure had fun keeping pH, acidosis, alkalosis, Hydrogen, base, and the chemical reactions straight during the respiratory section :-) I would have KISSED anyone who gave me an easy study aid for that!!!

Specializes in ER, ICU, Medsurg.

hint for the acidic or base pH. There is acid is in your stomach and the stomach is "low" in the body. Therefore, lower pH is going to be acidic.

I had a ton of weird things to remember AP stuff. but be danged if I can remember any of them "off the cuff". If you need any specific ones, there are tons of posts on here about mneumonics or just post, it might jog a memory LOL

I used a lot of word and letter association in A&P I and II as well. I'm doing it now for MicroBio, too!

Olfactory, Optic, Ocularmotor, Trochlear, Trigeminal, Abducens, Facial, Auditory (Vestibulococlear), Glossopharyngeal, Vagus, Spinal Accessory, Hypoglossal.

To remember which of the cranial nerves are motor, which are sensory and which are both.

Some say marry money, but my brother says big boobs matter more.

The one thing in the body that uses both the sympathetic AND parasympathetic nervous systems at the same time is the male erection and ejaculation.

Point & S[/s]hoot. Parasympatetic for the erection and sympathetic for the ejaculation.

Point & Shoot. Parasympatetic for the erection and sympathetic for the ejaculation.

For what ever reason, the system wouldn't let me edit my last post.

I used a big concept map that showed how everything relates. I'm very visual, so this was a huge help for me.
