Weekend Warrior - Pros/Cons

Right now I am a pre-nursing student and can already feel the stress. I was wondering if I changed jobs and worked as a CNA and only worked nights Friday, Saturday and Sunday if that would help with the time spent studying. I think if I did this it would need to be pm's but most likely nights since my husband works often during the day on the weekend.

I don't know anyone I can personally ask what they do or don't like about working only the weekends. If you work this way or have can you tell me the pros and cons.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

I worked as a weekend warrior for the 1st half of school....notice how i said the 1st half!!!

Being in school, the only pro i can think of is the money. you do get paid a heck of alot more.

some cons:

you work EVERY weekend(that means no days off till schools off)

no time for family(especially if u have children)

usually shorter staffed on weekend

nasty co-workers who will remind u THEY work full time(some nice ones tho! :))

sleep deprivation(lol)

Hope this helps!

I work EVERY weekend (notice how I stress that) and I hate it, really. The job I work is easy and I even have time to study....but I miss being with my family on the weekends. The other people I work with are quick to remind me that they "don't" work weekends so if there is something special going on....I just miss it.

Today, however, I'm ill therefore there will be no working for me but this is the 1st time I've been off on a weekend for awhile and I'll spend it sick and studying for my 10 tests (and no, I'm not joking either) next week.

If you can figure out a way to not work while in nursing school, I would 100% recommend it. If you can't, then the weekend thing might work out for you....just remember that it takes away a huge chunk of your week and time to yourself (and family) and it might end up causing more stress.

Good luck!!!!!
