Wanting to CLEP some Courses

Published

I'm looking to CLEP some courses and need some help on which books to study prior to taking the test. What are some good textbooks for Sociology, Psychology and Comp 1 to either get from the library at the local college or buy from Barnes and Noble? I need a little guidance here. Thank you in advance for your help.

Did you check out the free study guide from CLEP? This is a good starting point as they include sample questions.

You can start with some of the study guides, I know REA makes some decent guides. You may even find copies at your school or local library to save $$$

I will see if I can find a link to a sample guide

You are so lucky your program will accept CLEP!

I'd look up the textbooks that your school uses for each class and either buy them or rent from Chegg. Also catch a few lectures on iTunesU. Even if you don't have Apple devices you can access iTunesU online from a computer.

If CLEP doesn't work or if you don't pass, just take online versions of the classes and use them to boost your GPA.

You can find the fact sheets/test guides here:

You can also purchase study guides from the College Board

Be careful...Some schools will give you an automatic grade of "C" for all CLEP courses. My program does this. So if these are classes that are going to be calculated into your prerequisite GPA, I'd maybe rethink it. It will bring it down a lot. Check with your school and see how they treat CLEP credit.

As for your books, try Chegg. I've always used them and their rental prices are very reasonable. They make returns very easy as well.

Good Luck!
