Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.

I've applied to another program where I am about 99% sure I am in...but I really want Wake. In praying so much!!!

CN_2bRN919 hi ! And yes I am applying for spring 2017! Those points were a rough estimate but ms Watkins said it could be lower! So either way you will be okay ! My points aren't that high so I'm feeling a little discouraged . I found out I didn't need to take a lower bio to get into bio168 so it pushed me back !!! But I'm still going to apply and be hopeful ! I'm hoping the points are much lower than spring 2015 ! I'm on the middle 100's . And APeregoy , I know what you mean ! I really want to get into wakes program as well !! But with your points I'm sure you're in.

When do letters officially go out for people who applied for the fall?

Nursing731, I'll be praying for you! I am sure you will get in! Although my classes are going well I am having such a hard time with the CNA requirement. I recently finished up my program and I am hoping to take the exam in the next month or so while the information is fresh on my mind. I want to take the exam as early as I can because I'm nervous that I won't pass the skills. I feel prepared, but sometimes my nerves get the best of me. Has anyone recently taken the NACE exam? Any advice?

Mrs. Watkins said she was finishing up the last names that start with the letter "S" so if your last name starts with a letter before "S" your letter has already been mailed out.

Nursing731, you mentioned the points from spring 2015. Don't forget those points included the TEAS at 50 points. Although it's hard I've been trying to cross my fingers and not focus too much on past points since the scale has changed.

CN_2bRN919, I challenged the boards 2 years ago to get my license. My advice would be is to not let your nerves cause you to make simple mistakes!! Try to relax and act as if you're already a CNA just doing your normal duties at a job. I'm not sure if this still applies but when I took it if we said " my skill is complete" then afterwards realized we forgot a step we couldn't go back and redo anything we had to move on with our next skill. If so , before saying that always make sure you provided privacy , you washed your hands , lowered the bed and properly dispose of your gloves , " dirty" linen & ALWAYS make sure you place the call bell within reach to the patient..Even if you forgot a step at the end but you didn't say " my skill is complete" we were allowed to go back and correct it. As I was doing my skills I talked through them so even if I was doing something partially wrong if I'm saying what I am doing correctly we were given the credit. And try to move at a steady pace !! Since you will be timed!

Earlier in this post they said yesterday at the info session that ms Watkins said she was finishing up today and mailing them out today! So hopefully we will hear next week! I will let y'all know as soon as I hear something. Pray for me!!

Thank you so much for the advice Nursing731! Has anyone taken their NA course at WTCC? Did you feel like you were pretty prepared for the exam?

Yes those are the old point ranges so they will be much lower starting 7/31/16 If I'm not mistaking. I'm really hoping so !!!

My last name is P, so I'm hoping I've got a letter headed my way already!

I took my NA course at JCC and my NA II at UNCH... As long as you know the steps in that book you are fine for skills! Just study that book!!
