Waitlisted... Any advice?

Published

Hello,

I am currently a transfer student and I have been waitlisted for the nursing program at NIU. I feel like I'm at a dead end here. I made a big mistake of only applying to one university for the nursing program. Now I am trying to weigh some options that I have. I am considering either changing my major into Physical Therapist orOccupational Therapist but honestly I am not so sure. That is just my plan B. Does anyone have any suggestion of what other majors that will credit all the prerequisites I finished for the nursing? Or does anyone have any suggestion what other universities that still accepts application for either this fall 2017 or spring 2018 for the nursing program? I submitted an application for Lewis University and I just received an email that I have to take the KAT exam. Which I am going to start preparing to. But are there any other schools or programs out there for me? My current GPA from my community college is 3.1.. I'm not so sure if that is good enough for any nursing program around. Anyone have any suggestion? Or anyone been waitlisted and was still accepted at NIU?

Apply to other nursing programs.

Also, getting into PT school is also competitive.

A GPA of 3.1 is not competitive for most nursing programs. The wait list may be a good thing ...because although you have to wait, at least you'll get in eventually.
