what to do while waiting?

Specializes in SRNA.

Hey everybody! I start anesthesia school in August 2007 and I'm wondering what I should do with myself while I wait. I've only worked ICU and I think it would be fun to try something else out before I'm off to SRNA land. Can you say short-timers syndrome? I was thinking about PACU or ER. I got a job in Trauma, but it didn't seem right to go there considering all of the training I would be doing there what with me leaving next year. I've already worked a little PACU and ER as overtime, so my feet are already wet. Thoughts? I could do heights and weights at a pediatric office!?

Where did you get in at?

Specializes in critical care.

I worked in the ED my first year out of school. I liked it a lot more than the last 5 years of ICU hell I've endured. Sorry, but I'm really burned out on ICU nursing. Congrats on being accepted. I'll be interviewing in Nov. for anesthesia school.

kudos & good luck

Definitely take a travel assignment, it'll give you extra money and give you a good time. Enjoy your time before starting school, don't work a bunch to "save Up" for school. Free place to live and 40 dollars an hour in a new warm environment sounds wonderful to me.
