Visa Screen processing...

Published

Hello and Good day!

I am a nurse form the Philippines.

Can you please help me coz I'm quite confused on the processing of my papers for New Jersey. I recently passed the NCLEX last May 26, 2007 and I have applied for Visa Screen already. How will it reflect on my Visa screen that i have passed the NCLEX?

And do I get to have a copy or letter coming from Pearsonvue or NCSBN that i passed the NCLEX exam.

Thank you.

You must have the state that you took the exam for complete the form that comes with the VSC application that is called License Verification.

Even if you do not have an actual license yet assigned to you, this is the form that needs to be submitted.

And please be aware that each state usually has a fee and it can be anywhere from $20 to $60 to complete the form.

Welcome to allnurses.com, faith14.

Please contact the one who handles licensure verification for the NJ BON. If I'm not mistaken it is $50 for NJ but pls. contact them first to know the current fee and the details on how to go about it. Just don't forget to disclose that you are a foreign-educated nurse and it is for ICHP/CGFNS' Visa Screen.

Also, it also involves sending NJ BON the License verification/validation form from ICHP found on page 18 of the Visa Screen application packet plus the requested fee by the NJ BON that handles license verifications. Please see the links below.

Licensure Verification

Processes applications and related paperwork in order to certify that applicants are currently licensed to practice in New Jersey, when they seek employment or licensure in another state.

hi. i took the nclex in california last nov 2006 and passed. however, since i dont have a ssn, i cannot claim my license. how will cgfns verify from the ca board that i passed the exam? this is the one requirement i'm missing to complete my visa screen...is there a way i could do, so that ca bon will send a letter or a form stating that i passed the exam even if i don't have license # yet since i don't have the ssn#? i have already submitted the license verification form to the board and even paid the fee, still nothing happened...pls help me ...thanks!

CA BRN will never verify to any agency that you have a license until you have one. You are suppose to be requesting the BRN to send it in for ICHP Visa Screen ($60) and not for License Verification (also $60). They even have a specific service and fee for ICHP visa screen. See this: http://www.rn.ca.gov/fees/pdf/fees.pdf

Which service did you specifically requested? If you requested the ICHP visa screen, they will just send it and just clarify to ICHP that you passed the NCLEX exam but because of their policy they do not give license numbers until a US SSN is given and ICHP will accept this.

However, since this is done manually, the personnel doing this would probably be doing the ICHP visa screen process instead considering there isn't any form that is included but just a letter of request for the service and the fee for it is the same. Best that you e-mail them about it and make the necessary clarifications.

This take time since this is done manually. Usually it takes w/in 2-3 weeks for the ICHP License Verification form be sent to ICHP and takes another 2-3 weeks from receipt from CA BRN for ICHP to update your on-line profile.

If you want to know the status from CA BRN, you need to e-mail them of it.

hi lawrence thanks for the reply...

anyway, i remember sending a letter of request for ICHP Visascreen service together with the required fee of 60$ to ca bon. then i checked my status in the cgfns website for my visasreen service it says there additional requirements required. i clicked the notebook or the memo pad and it is written there: passed nclex, need to verify

so now, i'm really lost...don't know what to do next... i read the visascreen handbook and it says there that you need the certification program of the cgfns OR the nclex exam together with the english exam for one to be able to get a visascreen certificate...

so how can i verify if i still don't have a US SSN to get a license #?

That's it. As far as CA BRN is concerned, their job is done and you did request the right thing. It is now up to CGFNS to verify everything and as soon as they do and esp. if that is already the last req't they need for your VSC, they will be sending the Cert. via courier service.

And like I said. As far as CA BRN is concerned, CGFNS/ICHP have always accepted what CA BRN has sent from all these years. They have been doing this for years now and many went through the same procedure as no foreign grad was ever granted a license number by CA BRN w/o a US SSN and CGFNS has always granted VSC to these nurses. So, do not worry about it. They have done this for years.

What CGFNS is verifying would prob. be identifying if the person of whom CA BRN has sent a verification for is the same person whom they have a file with as they are very strict on giving out Visa Screen Certificates nowadays for security purposes.

thank you very much lawrence for enlightening me...i really appreciate your response...i'll just call cgfns and clarify regarding the additional requirement that they need. Also, ff up with ca bon if they indeed sent the requirement needed for the ICHP visascreen certificate. Because I sent the letter with the fee to ca bon last dec 2006 and still whenever i check my order stutus it still reads additional requirement: passed nclex, need to verify...sigh...and that is the only thing that is lacking in my requirements, all else it reads: received and accepted...

again, thanks!

You need to clarify these w/ CGNFS but as far as CA BRN is concerned, they did their job already. You need to give CGFNS a formal e-mail through their website and let them explain what's holding it up.

hi lawrence! i did e-mail Ca Bon and called cgfns regarding my status...cgfns checked my file and said that they received already the form from CA BON that i passed...cgfns just forgot to update it. Good thing i called and followed up with them or else they will not update it. They will just keep on continue sending me inactivity notifications...

anyway, the good news is that my visascreen certificate is on it's way...i'll be receiving it by mail on 7/30...thank you so much for all your replies....

Glad to hear that you got everything done. And that we could be of help to you.
