my view on the view

Hello all! This was a post i submitted to "The View", and also on Facebook last year when they decided to make jest of Nurses & the work that we do. Just wanted to share.. :)

I normally don't like to post these rants on social media but, I have watched the recent comments about the beauty pageant when miss Colorado spoke about the nursing profession and I couldn't help becoming completely irate at the reactions of the fools who sit at a table, while sipping coffee "making fun"of people for a living, while calling their ******** show "the view". Being a nurse, a granddaughter and a niece of someone with Alzheimer's, (they have both passed) , I took huge offense at the statements made. They seem to think a nurse who cares for a confused demented patient is "talentless" and funny. Although it was stated by Michelle Collins "that's not funny", realistically you know you were looking for a laugh. To Michelle Collins and Joy Behar: You've done such a great job at offending just about every single nurse in the U.S.!

This job is not easy and at times can be very stressful. Not everyone can do it, if so , everyone would be a nurse. Alot of people (like both of you ) have the slightest clue about some of the daily tasks of our profession. So I will gladly fill you in. Here I am about to walk into an 8 hour shift in a nursing home, in which my evening will consist of caring for about 40 patients; As the only nurse on the unit, assistance of 3 nurses aides, and help of two Registered nurse supervisors which will intervene in the unlikely event of an emergency. However, a typical night without any patient in distress usually goes something like this:

checking the vitals signs of many which includes there temperature, respirations, pulse, heart rate and blood pressure (which includes the use of my DOCTOR STETHOSCOPE!!!) administering over 400 medications, tablets, Intravenous, injections, glucose monitoring for diabetics, answering the phone as it rings off the hook, answering call bells responding to patients needs and requests, changing the dressing of pressure sores so large both of your heads can fit inside at the same time, turning and positioning these immobile patients with sores, assisting with meal times as several clients can no longer feed themselves that includes feeding by mouth and VIA G-tube ( a tube surgically inserted into the stomach due to a patient not able to eat by mouth or swallow anymore) and routinely monitoring for the safety of SEVERAL clients with Alzheimers (dementia) as they are a HIGH RiSK for falls and injury.

FYI: It takes GREAT SKILL to calm down a confused and agitated patient when they start to panic (WITHOUT THE USE OF SEDATIVES) because they forget where they are, what there name is, what year it is... Ect. Miss Colorado, you have my utmost respect. You set a true example of a great nurse who has taken the time out of your busy shift to sit with a crying patient at night and hold his hand PREVENTING A FALL OR INJURY without giving him a Xanax or Ativan. That alone is talent.. The list goes on and on..but here I am, dressed in my "nurse costume" and wearing my "doctors stethoscope" around my neck. Not only were your comments ignorant, how absent minded of you to make such idiotic remarks to a population of professionals who save lives on a daily basis! Pray for your health, and take very good care of yourselves! Health is a tough thing to deal with when it goes, nurses see that first hand everyday in case you didn't know.

However, I'd like to say best of luck to the nurse who will have to care for either of you one day. I pray that she has lots of experience in dealing with patients much like your ignorant asses! Ps: your show TheView is the CDIFF of television, look it up if you don't know what that means 1f3e5.png🏥1f489.png💉1f48a.png💊1f637.png😷1f4a9.png💩 #nursesUnite #wherestherespect#iworkHARD #nursesWORKHARD #theview #boycotttheView #ignorance#noDocYouCantHaveMyNURSEstethescope#youCanHaveTheExtraOneInMyPocket #yourwelcome#YouShouldBeAshamedOfYourselves#thanksForRemindingUsHowHardWeWork
