Hey Everyone,
I am going to take the boards this Friday and assuming I pass, I am going to start my new job in August. The hospital I will be working at uses the Versant RN Residency Program. Any ideas of what I can expect during the first 18 weeks? Any stories of personal experience (negative or positive) or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I've heard only good things about it. I'm in almost the same boat as you, starting new grad in August at a medical center that used Versant for years and is now running their own new grad based on what they had with Versant.
I know there's some good info on Versant's website... have you checked it out yet?

It is based on Patricia Benner's novice to expert research. the preceptors are selected competent to expert as you move from novice to advanced beginner.
The information provided is a great review of the systems, and it is a great introduction to becoming a professional nurse. there is talk about specialty and professional nursing organizations. There is a a thing called Looping where you get to see many different areas of the hospital. This is the most enjoyed part of the program generally. Many nurses have said that we have had an opportunity to float places that even THEY have never been. It's a great way to know what the patient's experience in different areas of the hospital.
There is also a mentor program (someone who is not in your unit, so there is no influence of knowing how you are doing or possibly thinking that what you say may have an impact on your performance.)
Debriefing helps to vent and talk about your experiences. Our group did one on one mentoring and group debriefing.
It is a wonderful program.
