i know this is a stupid question but im a newb so..... my teacher said there are 2 types of administration iv sets. vented or non vented. i looked in my book and i dont see this so i have no idea what shes talking about. could one of you more exp ns tell me what that is?

thanks

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe your instructor is referring to a plastic IV bag (non-vented) and a glass IV bottle (vented).

I have seen drip chambers with and without vents. Those with vents are designed to allow air to be removed. In this image, you can see the small vent port between the spike and the chambers. Some sets do not have the vent. This is the way I understand it.
