Apr 4, 20179 yr I've cared for home vent patients (off and on) for over 30 years. All peds. With the proper training, it's a good gig. You never have to worry about them not breathing. :)Truthfully, they all have a backup vent in the home. so really any trouble you might have is likely to be with the trach, not the vent. There are a lot of home vent patients- it's a growth area.
Apr 4, 20179 yr Author Oh ok that's why they told me if I have trach experience then I'm good.. That machine just scares me but I'm willing to.try. I know the need for.vent nurses is high!
Apr 4, 20179 yr Heck- I have parents with less than a high school education learn the vent for their child. You are MILES ahead of them. Light years actually.
