Greeting everyone! I've been working in a Level I ER for the past 1.5 years. I am interested in applying to an ACNP program in another year. Looking at Vanderbilt's website, I have not found specifics about the type of experience and/or certs needed to be accepted into the program. Does anyone know if ER is acceptable for an ACNP program? Thanks!

Hello! Im sorry I cannot answer your question about the Vanderbilt program, but I was writing to see if you could help me. I would love to work at Grady Hospital, and from what I have read you have a job there. I graduate in May with my BSN in Alabama, and want to move. Can you please tell me the best way to get a job or get my foot in the door at Grady Hospital?
The best way is to apply online. Also look out for any Nurse Recruitment Job Fairs. When I was a new grad I went to one and I had an interview on the spot. I would advise you not to move from your current location until you have a start date.....and that's with any hospital you choose to work at. Also, its best to have already passed NCLEX and GA License # in hand. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for all of your help! Good luck with all of your endeavors in the future!

ER exp should be perfect. I also want to apply to the ACNP at Vandy. My exp is in CVICU and cardiac telemetry. I have 2+ years experience. I think Vandy will accept any experience for the program, especially if it is inpatient. Are you looking to apply Fall 2013? Have you taken the GRE yet?
I am currently preparing to take the GRE. Im not sure what semester I am applying because the future hubby and I will be moving within the next year for his job and probably will have to move again the following year. But thanks for input!
