Quick rundown: I am an LVN in California. I worked in mental health/nursing within the CA prison system for 12 years and have recently medically retired due to work related injuries. I am on the hunt for a desk related LVN job and ran across Utilization Review / Utilization Management as a possibility. I have medical retirement 'work restrictions' which essentially eliminates any and all bedside care. My question: Considering I have zero experience with Utilization Review / Utilization Management, I would imagine my hiring prospects would be fairly low. I have been doing some digging and ran across the Case Management Institute website (https://casemanagementinstitute.com/) which offers a Utilization Management / MCG course. This course apparently makes you eligible to get your MCG Certification. Would it be advisable for someone in my position to take a course such as this and have that on my resume? Do you feel it would substantially heighten my chances of getting hired into a Utilization Review / Utilization Management position?
If not, what would you advise? Any other desk-related jobs in the LVN field?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm super curious about this too but I guess you are not going to get any answers.

Hi. I am curious about this as well. Have you found any new information in your research? And have you landed a job in this field? I'd appreciate any info you'd like to share! Thanks!

I've heard nothing and found nothing. I am currently doing my Microsoft Office certificate, as I assume that will look good on my resume.

Thanks for getting back to me! It seems all the job postings on remote your/UM requires experience. I'll check out the link you shared for the courses. Was also looking into learning about HEDIS. Microsoft Office is always a plus so good luck on your journey!
