UTHSCSA Spring 2016

I'm considering going to nursing school through the Baptist Health System in San Antonio or UTHSCSA. Most people I get advice from tell me hands down to go for UTHSCSA. I would like to hear from more of you who are currently enrolled or have gone through the nursing school program at either one of these locations in San Antonio. What did you like about the teachers, faculty, the content you were learning, etc. What were your hours like at school and if you had kids, how did you manage your time.

I am still a pre-nursing student and have one more semester in Spring of 2014 to complete before I can apply. I am very excited and just want to know more information. Also, a close family friend is attending nursing school at Wayland Baptist and informed me that their nursing program is shutting down. Is there any truth to this?

Has everyone started their vaccines? I started mine in the beginning of June! OUCH! It hurt!

I got all the shot records done back in like January. I had most of the vaccines already done, luckily I work for a hospital and I had to have the Hep B titer done and we found out I wasn't showing up as immune, so one booster and another titer later, my lab results are showing immune and I'm completely covered for nursing school.

I planned on attending UTHSCSA as well but i graduate with my prereqs on July 30 ! 1 DAY shy of the August 1st deadline, Sadly UTHSC will not get my transcripts in time. Does anyone know if they will take a in progress transcript for a week or two and then get my final grades when NWV posts them mid august??

I thought that was how it worked… Like you submitted your application with in progress classes and send in the transcripts for what you currently have, and then I'm pretty sure you can go back and update the application, and we send official final transcripts again.

That would be great and thats what im hoping for. Iam going to apply anyway and deal with it, because this is a great school

Yeah, you should definitely still apply!!

Right now the last class I'm taking is Government during the summer. When class is over, do I resubmit my application via NursingCas? And do I have to resend a transcript?

Q: "Can I update my coursework after I e-submit my application?"

A: "No. Once you have e-submitted your application to NursingCAS, no changes to coursework can be made. If you e-submit your NursingCAS application, there will be an Academic Update (AU) period, which will allow you to update your coursework. Arrange for your updated transcript to be sent to NursingCAS as soon as they are available. You can only update your coursework once during the Academic Update period. An email will be sent to applicants when the Academic Update period opens."

There you go guys, directly from the website.

Thank you so much for that information! Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed staying on top of all this!!!

I just got my TDap vaccine today and labs for titers for the hep b and varicella. I'm still waiting on Ncas to verify my transcripts. What are you guys doing to take your mind off of this wait? I'm taking exercise classes at sac to get in better shape. :cat:

To pass the time I'm working, cleaning/organizing the garage (which is a challenge in itself) and getting some early studying done... Like reading up on some pathophysiology and pharmacology.
