Hey y'all. I guess I just want to vent. I finished my prerequisites at HCC in December and I missed the deadline for the UT nursing program because I didnt finish the reading portion of the HESI on time. I wasn't sure what I was doing with my life after that, was looking into different schools etc. So I didn't go to the orientation and I just pretty much waited to take the HESI again. Well fast forward to this month and I finally went to orientation because I submitted my application June 1st. I didnt know I had to take Patho, Pharm, and intro to nursing prior to beginning the program. I was taking Tech Writing in the spring but dropped it bc I didn't think I was gonna go to UT (YUGE MISTAKE). So now in the fall I will be taking Intro to nursing, Patho, medical terminology, and technical writing. I guess I will have to take pharmacology and a sophomore level lit course in the spring. I am a CNA and currently looking for a job so I'm hoping that if I land a job at a Hospital that is partnered with UT, that can increase my chances of getting into the program. Both my GPA's are decent and so are my HESI scores. I guess since I won't be able to start in the spring, I will be submitting my application in January for the online based program. To hopefully start next fall.
I am 22 years old and I am a little (a lot) frustrated because I feel like it's taking forever to get into the program. I feel like doors are being closed in my face and that I keep making the wrong decisions. My parents are paying for my education and are pretty strict. So I get frustrated when they and other family members keep asking how long I have till I graduate.
I am more than ready to start nursing school but it seems like nursing school isn't ready for me.
