UTA APBSN Fall 2010

Hey everybody!

I just got my acceptance letter for the september 20th start date so just wondering if any of my future classmates are out there. I'm really excited to start this journey with all of you! :)

Congrats on the acceptance letter! I just applied for the spring of 2011 entrance. Whats was your overall GPA? I was really confused on the courses that we're allowed to retake? Please give me any helpful tips!

My Science GPA was around a 3.3... From what I was told from my advisor, they mostly focus on your science gpa, not your overall. My overall HESI score was an 89. I really didn't think I would get in.. I got A's in Intro to Professional Nursing and Physiology but a C in pharmacology. I thought I was doomed! I didn't get in for their June start date but I didn't give up and I encourage you to not give up either! It is possible to get into this program or any nursing program if you just keep trying.

Hey Kazuo! I'm in, too! Yay! I was initially on the wait list. I'm so excited!

BUT, I'm behind!!! Do clinicals start Sept. 20, too? Do you have all of your immunizations? I haven't finished Hep B yet! Where did you get yours? I started at CVS, but they are pricey, and I don't have insurance yet.

Anyway, I'm sure it will all be sorted out. Congrats! :-) Oh, which hospital are you partnering with? I need to send in my list of preferred hospitals.

I've been working for Children's for 2 years now so I'm all set for immunizations. Sorry I don't know where you could get yours at except for local clinics. Oh and we don't start clinical till week 2.

I ranked Parkland as my #1 choice... then Baylor and then Medical City I think. I really really want Parkland!

Good luck completing the Orientation! I am freaking out about how I'm gonna pay tuition now.. lol

Awesome! You seem to have it together! Right, I'm freaking about the $$$ too! How much do we owe by Sept 13??? Do you have a schedule of classes -- like which classes we take, the order and start dates or anything?

Trying not to go nuts with all of this and finals! So daunted, but eternally grateful to be in! Stoked!!! :yeah:

You'll get an email on how to register for classes once you've completed orientation with a 100% on everything. Tuition this semester is a little under $4,500. Oh and don't forget about our books that costs almost a grand. But yahhh I'm stoked, too!

OMGoodness! Do we have to pay all of that up front on the 13th, or do they offer some sort of payment plan?

Thanks so much for the info! Youch!

I think you can do an installment plan.. but you still have to pay 50% on sep 13th. I'm pretty sure you can work something out with the Financial Aid office. I'm thinking about getting a big happy loan. lol

Phew! That helps a lot! I'm so late with it all that I doubt I can secure a loan in time. A payment plan is a huge help, though! Thanks again for all the 411! I owe you big time!

Hi All,

I can't wait to meet all of you. I put Baylor (main hospital) as my number 1 choice. It was between baylor and parkland for me. I have to finish my immunizations and then I will be cleared to register. The books are so expensive. My science GPA was 4.0 and overall 3.6 hesi 90 I did really horrible on the Math. I will see you all at the orientation.

Congrats, you can get your shots for free at your local health department if you don't have insurance.

Thanks for that, Mannan. I'm going to do that tomorrow. How did you feel after all of those shots?? Kind of afraid.
