USPHS SRCOSTEP

I just got accepted into the SRCOSTEP program for this current school year. I know the application process. I was hired by the BOP to be a NP but have no first hand experience with them yet. Only have knowledge from what others have told me who have worked there. Feel free to DM me.

Oh my goodness! I didn't think I was going to get any replies because the USPHS in general is like a hidden gem of the uniformed services. I would like to be hired by the BOP as well, since those agencies are closest to where I live right now. I currently work around the incarcerated on a daily basis as an admin assistant / receptionist (think forensic work), so I think the BOP is the perfect fit for me.

I will most certainly be PM'ing you with some questions (if I am able...I don't know how many posts I have to have before I can do that). But I thank you for coming forward and offering your help!

First off congrats. I have just been sent the application and have tons of questions regarding it. Did u have a recruiter or you did the app by yourself. If you did do it by yourself is there anyway I can email you for some help to make sure I get accepted as well. (If you dont mind of course:up:) or you can email me [email protected]. Just want to get it right the first time. THXS

Hello! I know you were directing your questions to jasonmstone82, but I know for sure that the COSTEP is a do-it-yourself thing. There are no recruiters involved. You are responsible for filling out your own application and sending in your supporting documents. I am waiting for 1 more reference form and a CLEP transcript and then my application will be on its way! I'll try to remember to update this thread if I come across any information or if I get a response about my application.

I am pretty sure that you do both of those things at a later date. I also think that the extra security measures you have to go through depend on which agency you will be working for. I know for the BOP (bureau of prisons) they make you go through all of that extra stuff. But I really don't have any extra info besides what I found on the internet, which wasn't much anyway.

But good luck to you too! I hope we both get in. :)

No I'm not too sure about what the interview process entails. All information about the USPHS is so hard to find. If you hear anything please update the thread!! Good luck to you! (:

I saw you posted the same question in another thread. Are you applying for the COSTEP program or just as a nurse?
