Using care.com to find clients?

I've been a home care agency LPN for ALMOST 4 years. It upside to working as an agency nurse is that you can choose what hours and days you want to work. The downside is that work isn't ever guaranteed to come on the hours and days you want to work. Work pops up when you're heading out to door to a doctor's appointment or when you FINALLY have some spare change to give your kids a day out on the town. My question for anyone who has advice is this: Is care.com a good place to look for clients? I had my profile up for about two days then I took it down because I felt a little "funny" about having my personal information out there for ANYONE to see. Has anyone here ever used care.com to find clients? And if so, was it worth it? Working outside an agency can kind of leave you "flapping in the wind" even when you have liability insurance. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Based on responses I've seen received by people offering child care & special needs child care you might do better with craigslist. Remember you need to have RN oversight and any payment received you need to set aside self-employment and income taxes which get paid to the IRS (and state if you have income taxes) quarterly or face large fines. You can't just pay in April.

Did you see anyone actually seeking PDN services (not just companion/caregiver/HHA)?

No I haven't seen anyone looking for private duty services. Just persons seeking Companion Care. I know LPNs working as HHAs is frowned upon thats why I asked the question on this forum. It was a desperate move to put up a profile. I haven't been able to get hired in LTC facilities or ALFs so I was looking for another option to use my home care experience. Thanks for your reply.
