I just received my acceptance letter today. I applied for the Acute Care track. A quick question for those of you who have applied or who have been in the program. My letter included a 3 year study plan (part time). I didn't ask for part time when I applied. I was actually looking forward to getting done in 2 years. Do they automatically place you based on how many students they have? I'm going to call tomorrow...but just wanted to see if anyone had some insight.
Thanks!

Wondering what you found out? I was accepted to the FNP program and placed into a part-time track as well :/ I'm planning to call tomorrow, too.

I called and was told that was all they had, also they told me many were turned away and should be glad I was accepted.
I called and was given the same...rude...be glad you got in comment. However, I called again and spoke with the lady that is listed on the second page of the acceptance letter. Luckily she was more kind. She said that they were overwhelmed with applicants and they placed nearly everyone on part time study plans. She also stated that they won't be accepting any applicants for the Spring program (which they usually do). She congratulated me and said that she hoped I was still interested in attending there.
I just think it kinda stinks that they didn't inform us about this before hand. Kind of dirty... I certainly was not expecting that it would take me 3-4 years instead of 2.

Hi folks, I'm new here. I applied for full time as well, got accepted, and was placed in a part time track with the expectation to graduate in 2015.
When I called, I was told the same as some of you; that USI was inundated with many GREAT applicants and that only 7 got in a full time slot...perhaps there were some part timers who were moved up to full time status as well?

Hi All,
Same here. I got accepted for Spring 2012, but applied for Fall 2011.
I called, spoke w/ the kind woman listed on second page. She explained that due to large number of applicants, they are now completely full for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. No new applications will be accepted until next year.
I appreciate the fact that we are being told upfront, before we decide to enroll, about the timeframe for the program instead of starting the program and then learning the completion time has been extended.
They are not misleading us, which is a plus in my book- based on some horror stories I have read about "bait and switch" in nursing programs. Or programs that accept too many students, and then have the students sit out a semester, after starting classes, because there are not enough instructors.
From my perspective, it is a good sign, the school appears to be well organized and plans appropriately.
EPCATHNURSE,
Part timers were not given full time slots- fulltime applicants were used to fill the full time slots.
When fulltime slots were filled, the option of part time was offered to full time applicants (which may explain why my request for Fall 2011 part time was pushed to Spring 2012)
Also, I was told, the 3 year plan is not available due to space constraints for part timers starting in Spring 2012; they are placed on the 4 year plan with anticipated completion in Summer 2016.
Hope this is helpful. I am excited to start and look forward to enjoying my free time before school gbegin in Spring 2012..
Take care and good luck with whatever school you decide to attend.
