USC job at Kettering

This is probably a long shot but does anyone work as a USC at any of the Kettering hospitals? Or any dayton area hospitals? I really need a new job and thought this would be good hospital experience. I was wondering what the pre-test is like and just some general info on the job. Thanks!

I'm a Float USC/Tech in the Kettering network, you can message me if you have any questions. I love it...the USC training helped with learning labs/meds and what they are for (you dont have to know all of that as a USC, but I knew it would make my life easier in nursing school so I took advantage of it). Oh, and just an FYI...if you're planning on going to nursing school, you should try to get an ER job in the network so you can learn to do Catheters/Blood draws/Ekgs/etc before clinicals.

Thanks for the reply! I was wondering what kind of experience or training you have. I took the pre-test and only missed one yet they sent me a e-mail saying I was not qualified for the position of USC. I have had a few allied health classes as well as med term. I am not yet a STNA but will be soon. Just wondering what they are looking for. Thanks again,

Kearstin

I didnt have any experience as a USC, just a month in as an STNA. I took the same test at kettering (perfect score), and i was denied as well. So i applied at grandview for about 15 positions, and got 4 interviews. it took about a month to get a call back, but I gladly took a position in the network. (Kettering network pays better in this area than Premier health partners - Miami valley hosp., good sam, etc).

The training class they provide is 6 weeks long, and is plenty of information to get you started as a USC. If you need a referral I can toss your resume right on the desk of the Director of Nursing. She has hired all of my other referrals pretty quick. ;)

hmm they seem pretty picky. I would LOVE to work for any of the kettering hospitals though. I'm not yet an stna my state test is aug 23rd but I have completed the course. That would be awesome if you could give her my resume. I can e-mail it to you if you don't mind. Thanks so much for the info!

I work For Kettering and thier HR dept. takes forever to get back to people. I have been thier for over 18 years.
