US RN looking to work in UK..asking about OB

Hi,

I am a Registered Nurse here in the USA with most of my work experience having been in Obstetrics doing Labor & Delivery (I am not a midwife), newborn nursery and postpartum. I am currently doing travel nursing here in the US, but am seriously considering doing some in the UK as I spent 2 1/2 months in the Harrogate Leeds area. My question is, would I be able to work on an obstetrics floor? Thank you for any advice or info you can give me.

I am not a UK RN, but have worked with several who have told me I would not be hired into OB not being a midwife, but could be hired into NICU or nursery.

Hello Dawnc87.

i am a Registered nurse in London.I don't work in O/B but something tells me You may be hired to work in Post -natal ward considering you have experience in OBGYN,as they are so short of staff.it is wort a try surely. WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
