Hi

I would like to ask anyone who has had experience or anyone with an idea on the processing time/ stages any information on wanting to work in the US. I am a theatre nurse for 8 years now who graduated in Australia. So now, I am looking at working in the US to gain experiencee working abroad. I got in touch with this US Agency who advised that I need CGFNS certification which is currently in progress. I still need to take NCLEX.

I just want someone who can tell me or give me advise with the whole process including length of application.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

CGFNS exam is only required by a handful of states, personally I only say do the exam if the state requires it as most only require CES report from CGFNS. NCLEX is required as you say. If you are a Australian citizen then you have use of E3 however if looking for immigrant then you need to check EB3 under the US visa bulletin which is updated every month. It is all based on place of birth and if you are not from one of the countries mentioned in the headings then look under rest of world. This is what has an impact on length of time

Just to add many Australian trained nurses find they are short on Obstetric hours on their transcripts so hopefully you have clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult

Thank you for your reply. I am confident with my hours since I did a post op grap diploma that had Paeds, Obstetrics and Adult Nursing. Not sure about Mental Health though.

Hi Joyousmum!

I am also going through the same process of moving to the US as a theatre nurse and would love to hear how your journey is going so far? I passed the NCLEX back in 2013 and have received a conditional license since, but my biggest challenge has been finding an employer to sponsor for the visa..

Keep in touch!!
