I'm scheduled for urodynamic testing, and wonder if anyone can give me some idea of how it is? Been doing some reading and it sounds most undignified! Also, I'm terrified of the possibility of having a needle urethral emg...anybody fill me in?

I had this twice as a young child. It was not painful but got a little uncomfortable when my bladder was very full and they wanted me to hold it as long as possible.
It isn't much more than being catheterized really.
I hope everything goes allright and that things are okay for you.

I had the test twice. It was not much fun but not the end of the world. First after putting on the gown, I had to sit on a commode and urinate as the measured the rate of flow, this was the easy part. Next had to sit in a chair that would be at home in a gynecologist office. They then put in three catheters all at the same time. One to put water in, one ti measure the pressure the third did some thing don’t remember. They also put a thing in the rectum to measure the pressure. The catheters were also connected to a thing that would pull the catheter in and out so they could measure the pressure along the way. Seeing and feeling all this made me feel like some thing out of a very sick sex movie. After that it was to a table like at the gynecologist, naturally it had stirrups for you comfort. Again a simple catheter so they could fill your bladder and things, back to the commode with a full bladder. Also there was a couple of ultrasounds but not with a picture you could see, it just measured the size of the bladder.
I took a friend with and it helped a lot to have some support.
Good luck.
