UPenn Interview

I have received an invitation for interviews at UPenn. Anyone with experience or wisdom to pass on? Thanks.

How did it go? Any tips for me? What questions did they ask you? Anything would help. Thanks.

I interviewed with U.Penn a couple of months ago. The interview was pretty short (about 1/2 hour), with the directors of the program. They asked me only a few questions: "Why Penn?" "Why Nurse Anesthesia?" "Have I shadowed a CRNA?" "Describe a sick patient that I cared for." "Any questions?" (There may have been a few other minor questions, and a few personal questions, that I've forgotten.) Then they described the program at Penn...what to expect, etc. They didn't reveal their thoughts/decision at that time. They explained that they would put a recommendation into the board, and then the board would make a final decision. A couple of weeks later, I received my acceptance letter with instructions on securing a spot for Summer 08. I hope this was helpful. Good Luck to You!

Thanks so much for the information. I am applying for May 09. I hope I get in. Thanks again.

Mine was very similar but shorter time. They also asked me to explain the pharmacokinetics of milrinone down to the cellular level. I thought it was pretty chaotic. I met with a couple of students but only because I asked to do so. There were no planned meeting with students and no planned tours of the school. The interview experience was poor but the students had great things to say about the school and their preparation.

I was not quizzed on anything at my interview. I guess I was lucky

Hey Mark2climb, Did you end up going to Penn?

jesus, they asked you that? thats really scary. my interview is may 20th, im so nervous!

hell000nurse, how did penn notify you that you were granted an interview? Phone, e-mail etc?

oh...sorry for the misunderstanding...my interview is at thomas jefferson univ. in philly, not upenn. they let me know by sending me an interview offer letter in the mail

My Penn interview lasted about an hour. They asked me about my experience, what kind of patients I took care of, what my most challenging patient was and how I handled it. They also asked me if I had shadowed a CRNA, why I wanted to be a CRNA, what I knew about being a CRNA...I would recommend being familiar with being a CRNA and what they do. I was accepted for May 2008.
