I am in the second week of my first class so I may lack some knowledge but I'll share what I know. UoP will send for your transcripts and review them. They will award 30 credits for your RN component. Usually about 30 credits from your nursing pre-reqs will transfer in. They require 9 electives of non-nursing at the 300 or above level which you can also transfer in, take somewhere else, or take with them. There are 54 (I think) lower division credits required (not counting your nursing). You are assigned an advisor who will help you through it, but you can usually start right away. I will need 39 nursing credits (this is their RN-BSN component), 9 upper division electives, and 6 math credits. I am figuring this will take about 2 years. You can do it faster but financial aid will not cover it and I'm not going to kill myself. This is considered full time.

Good luck!

Hi guys - I graduate from UofP's BSN completion program May 19th - whooppeee! and I did it in 18 months - of course I'm an old lady! I have loved it! Its simple, sweet and you learn a lot. I start the MSN program June 3rd and expect to complete it in 18 months or less also. Take care. The above poster had the right idea!

I get no financial aid from Uncle Sam, because hubby and I make too much money. The total cost was about $16,000 and I get $3500/year paid through my work. Does that help???

Congratulations Kimmer. When I answered your other post I wondered about the LPN thing. Again congratulations and good luck.

Anybody got advice (Trauma I'm lookin' at you here :uhoh21: ) on anything I can do to get a headstart on this UOP thing? Can't really enroll until I pass NCLEX, just so bored and anxious that I wish I could focus on doing something that will get me ahead once I start the program...Any ideas???? :)

You can take summer courses elsewhere online in classes that U of P will require, especially electives. You can also think about, sign up for, and study for proficiency exams like CLEP. Be sure to see if U of P accepts CLEP, how many, and what scores they accept. luck. I am not sure why you can't take some non-nursing courses from U of P while waiting for formal acceptance into the nursing program. Good luck.

That's what I wanted to do---but they told me to chill out until they can evaluate exactly what classes I need and stuff like that. I was going to stick with the CC where I got my ADN to do what I call prerequisites (they say there are no prerequesites, just classes that you can do at the same time as the nursing ones that count towards the degree :) ). I have 96 credits total, they are thinking I'll transfer a whole bunch so they said to just wait (I just got pinned 6 days ago) I just have a hard time sitting on my hands like this. I've tried to get out of them what I'll need (for instance I only have 'math for nurses', I am sure I'll at least need college algebra) but they just say wait--don't they know how hard that is!!?? And it's probably partly anxiety over NCLEX causing me to worry about it I guess....Who knows. Thanks for any help.
