UNLV Fall 2019

Hello! Thought I would start a conversation with pre-nursing students applying for UNLV BSN Program for Fall 2019 Cohort. Do you mind sharing your experiences in your pre-requisite classes and your stats? What preparations are you doing to apply? Any experiences with counselors that advised you what the cutoff score might be? Looking forward!

@@nurseb00 @hopefulnurse56 thanks! I recieved my acceptance email yesterday. How about you guys?

Hi guys I applied for FA 2019 too but have yet to receive any acceptance/rejection emails. I’m starting to get worried. Should I wait until the 15th to call the nursing department?

@dndlgd what was your total point score? During the signing session they stated to wait til after the 15th to contact them.

Hi Jessica,

I don’t remember my exact point score, but when I calculated my points with an advisor it was in mid 94 range.

I didn’t received a follow-up email after my signing session, either, so I’m worried something may be wrong with my email or rebelmail account.

@dndlgd I believe I scored about a 93.5 buf i could be wrong. If you are worried than you should reach out. This is your career at risk after all. Better safe than sorry. Please keep us updated

If your score was a 93.5 then I should be in. Hmm... When I calculated my score myself I got around a 91, but an advisor calculated it for me and told me I was wrong and it was 94 point something. I don’t know what is going on! ? I sent an email to an advisor and I’m hoping to hear back from them. But thank you Jessica, I will definitely keep you updated.

The advisor told me in the signing session that they are always the last to know anything and that it is better to contact the nursing department directly with any questions. Idk if that may be quicker for you to get answers

Alright, thank you. I don’t know who to contact! ?

Hello @dndlgd!

Sorry about that. I can’t even imagine your frustration. I know someone whose score is 93 and got in so if you were calculated at 94, then someone made a mistake. However it doesn’t hurt to recalculate. Do you mind me asking your grades, hesi score and how many times you took classes? We can help calculate @Jessica Colwell

Hi! Thank you for this.

My grades are:

Biol 223 A (one attempt)

Biol 224 A (one attempt)

MATH 181 B (one attempt)

NURS 299 (in progress, second attempt)

Biol 251 A (2 attempts)

Hesi: 93.5 overall

individual scores were 92, 92, 92, 98.

No rebel recognition points.

When I calculated the score myself I got around 91 points. But when I went to see an advisor, she used a calculator on her computer and got around 94 points. Since I have NURS 299 in progress and it’s my second attempt, she said I would be awarded points for it in the first portion of the point calculation (so I’d get 13/15 attempt points)

I had to email the advising department for the signing session information. Additionally, I never got a follow up email after my signing session. I’m wondering if that has anything to do with why I haven’t received any emails from UNLV.

Thank you.

@dndlgd, What about your Chem 108? Your stats are good. I haven’t calculated yet since Idk your Chem 108 yet but it looks like it would be around 94. I didn’t receive that follow up email either btw. So if your Chem 108 is an A and a B in Nurs 299, I calculated 93.01:

grades: 82/22x10= 37.27 pts

attempts: 13 pts

hesi: 374/8.75= 42.74

overall: 93.01

If I’m mistaken, please correct. Thank you!
