30 Unit Option

Has anyone done the 30 unit option and then went on to get their BSN? I was wondering if I should do that and get finished right away. Then, I can work as an RN with a certificate while I wait to get into an ADN or BSN program.

If anyone has done the 30 unit option, was it hard for you to find a job after?

Thanks for the help/advice!

I am moving this thread to the CA forum since it is specific only to getting licensed in CA. It is not acceptable in any other state for licensure.

The only difference between the 30 unit and the ADN is a couple of courses, I would most definitely advise going for the ADN as a start. You will find it quite difficult to go from the 30 unit program to the ADN, and it states so in many things that have been published on this very topic.

Schools are not going to issue a degree from them when you only take a couple of courses there, they all have a minimum of at least a year enrolled there, so you would be causing yourself much of a delay as well as expense.

The 30 unit program is only good for someone that is most definitely not going to be going on with their training in the future. I would recommend taking the time to do some actual reading about what this training involves as well as what you cannot do with it.
