UMSON, Fall 2012...anyone applying?!

Am I in the wrong place?? I would think that there would be a lot of chatter with the deadline being tomorrow!

I am sure there are oodles applying. Now...where is everyone?!

I am! Applying to the Shady Grove campus, which I'm told is a little harder to get into than Baltimore because it has less seats. I went to an info session recently and the admissions rep said that nearly all of the 2011 grads had clinched jobs, often at the sites where they did their senior practicums--that was nice to hear.

So now I guess we wait until late march/early April to hear back--takes 8-10 weeks for them to make decisions.

I am applying to the Baltimore campus, but have several strikes against me already. At most, I am out a few bucks and a some tears :) I will most definitely apply again no matter how upset I am!

I did apply also at the Baltimore campus and am waiting until they mail descisions out. Good luck to all of us who applied.

@sb113. What do u mean by you have several strikes against you and why do you feel you are not going to be accepted and you would have to re-apply again? Please think positive no matter what the case is.

I know there are nursing schools out there who admit students pretty much only on their GPA. You should know that Maryland's admission process is way more thorough and in depth than that. The admissions committee looks at EVERYthing in detail and analyzes the whole applicant so a 4.0 GPA is not a guarantee of admission. This is part of the reason that it takes so long for offers to be made. Best of luck to you all!

Well, my TEAS was by far NOT the best. I am currently in Stats and need to retake A&PII over (only earned a C the 1st time around).

I try to think positive, but it's hard for me when I know the above will affect me :)

That is always refreshing to hear! If I needed a 4.0 to get into a school, I would be well...you know how the saying goes ;)

I've applied to the UMSON of Baltimore, I must say that waiting can be extremely nerve wrecking. However, I totally believe in thinking and speaking positively. Don't let the anticipation and negative thoughts enter your mind and discourage you. Try to substitute the phrase, “if I get accepted” to “when I get accepted.” Putting your best foot forward is only half the battle, the rest is out of your hands. God bless and best of luck!
