UIC Graduate Entry Program

Hi folks,

Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?

My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...

From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?

Will you be bringing/did you bring your resume to the interview?

I brought mine, plus a copy of my midterm grades because I'm still taking a few prereqs. It wasn't necessary for the PNP interview (they knew everything! We talked about details from my essays that I barely remembered adding and I reread them before going) but it adds a touch of class.

Okay that's what I was thinking. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to log back into the application system to view the essays we submitted? I remember I could do this before, but now I can't seem to do it. I kept editing my essays up until the point I sent them in, and I just wanted to read over the final versions one last time before my interview. It's not a huge deal since I have copies of earlier versions of my essays but just wondering if anyone knew how to do this. Thanks!

If you can retrieve the application link for when your recommenders submitted a LOR then you click on that link. You will be taken to a page with 2 links where you can see your status of recommendations and the other link is a copy of your submitted essays.

That worked - thank you!!

Sittenfeld and Kwolikola - About how many mental health applicants were in your info session? Just trying to get an idea of how many people are applying. Thanks!

Hello! I wanted to say thank you to Rainkissed, Sitten, Hi616 and all those that contributed such helpful information to this post. I discovered this just before my interview for the nurse midwifery specialty last week. I had many of the same experiences as you all. The interview was very relaxed, I confirmed the same info about the future of GEP moving towards a generalist MSN program and that there will be 56 people in our 2014 cohort. I wish you all good luck and hopefully we'll know each other more next year!

Welcome to all the newbies that have dropped in! :) Interviews are almost over right? Last ones are on the 22nd?

Oh you are so welcome, Bella. I hope to have you as a classmate in the near future!

@hi616- yes, 22nd is the last date!:)

@hi616, I believe the last interviews are the 22nd! I'm super excited/nervous for mine! I'm interested in why we don't get the whole info session like some of the other specialties.

I'm also curious, did anyone who initially applied as FNP, then re-applied with a secondary specialty choice receive an interview?

I initially applied FNP and got an interview. I really hope anyone who was qualified or even borderline for FNP got an interview.
