I don't know what it is but I just can't get into this physiology class material. I know its important for me to learn but it takes me FOREVER to read and then I have to go step by step, sentence by sentence to understand what the hell is going on. I feel like a moron. Right now I have a lot of life stressors and I am trying to juggle being a stay at home mommy to a toddler, a sister and caretaker to my sis who was in a car accident, a wife to a business man who away on a loooong trip and a real estate agent on the weekends. Our house is being remodeled to make it more accessible for my sis who is diagnosed as a quadrapalegic (we aren't quite ready to accept that though) so the house is literally being torn apart except for her and my parents bedrooms which were done when she was on the SNF unit of the hospital.I feel like I am going CRAZY it takes forever for me to go from point A to point B on any task whether it is doing laundry or getting my toddler ready in the morning. I feel like I am running around without my brain. THen I feel guilty for feeling frusterated because at least I can walk and and at least I can do things for myself without having to ask. The only thing that can keep my attention is the physiology interactive cd that came with my textbook. I know there is no shortcut to understanding this stuff but can someone please help me find my freaking brain because I have misplaced and have gone temporarily insane. At this rate NOTHING is getting done. I am about ready to GIVE UP on my nursing degree and clean laundry.

First off you are not a moron, you are a very busy person and these courses require focus and dedication. You have a lot going on and little toddlers are extremely demanding. My son is now 8 and things get a little easier when children enter school. Don't give up, you did well on your test and it can only get better. It's hard being a mom and going to school, hang in there

The first exposure to a lot of new material is always very frustrating. Don't feel guilty about using those interactive CDs that come with your textbooks. They are far more patient than a live person holding flashcards up for you. And, they are allowing you to go over the material ad nauseum which is what it takes when you are first learning this stuff. I would also check to see if the textbook also has a website site you can access for any other interactive help. The CD and any other free website help are part of the cost of the textbook that you shelled your money out for.
As for all the stuff on your plate, all I can say is that we all have crosses to bear in our lives, don't we? I wouldn't be totally honest if I told you that all your days as a hospital RN are going to be all flowers and candy either. There will be days when you will want to rip your hair out by the roots, stand there and bawl like a baby and just want to turn around and leave. Handling stress is what nurses are known for. So, think of yourself as being in training. If you can handle what is going on in your home life right now, imagine what you'll be able to accomplish in the future! Get through your current situation and you, young woman, will be the living definition of a supernurse-to-be. It's all about prioritizing and time management. Keep on plugging away. Your family are not the only ones who are reaping the benefits of your time and service. It is going to pay off for you as well in a way you never thought of that will have a great impact on your future career. Oh, and whatever you don't happen to learn in physiology now, you certainly will learn in the future because it will come up again and again in your future nursing classes and in your future nursing jobs. One way or another you will learn this stuff.

Oh I hate this classs, I am taking it this semester with Microbiology. I find Micro to be a lot more interesting than Physio. I think this class is so boring and it is hard to get into the material. I also have a little girl who just turned (the terrible) two. Sorry no advice, just know someone is in a similar boat.
