UAB interview

I have an interview on 11/15 with UAB. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions? This is my first interview so I am not quite sure what to expect. Also, did you bring anything with you to the interview (ie., CV, etc.). Once the interview process was over, approximately how long did it take them to notify you whether you have been accepted? I can only imagine how excruciating that wait will be!! I have also applied to Mercer, MCG, and MUSC, but I haven't heard anything yet as their application deadlines were much later. My top two choices are UAB and Mercer (for various reasons). For those of you that are enrolled at UAB, are you happy with your choice of school? Also, once clinicals start, are they done in the Birmingham metro area, or is there alot of travel required. Thanks in advance for any info!!

Let me know if you have any questions about MCG.

I am curious....why mercer?

I'm in my first semester at UAB and am very happy with the program. The instructors are very laid back and helpful. If you are interviewing for the Birmingham component the interview is very relaxed, no need to bring anything but yourself dressed to kill, be calm and be yourself...they are very down to earth people. I haven't started clinicals yet, but the Birmingham component does clinicals in several hospitals in Birmingham.

As for time waiting for acceptance, it is hard to say since this is the first year they are interviewing earlier than mid-January. I found out before a week was up, but as I said before, there is no telling with the new change.

Good Luck!

Sandman-- I sent you a PM. Gatormac, thank you for your assessment of the UAB program. I am hopeful that the interview process will be the same as last year as the timing has changed (hopefully the only thing that has changed!!). Do you know how many students they usually accept each year, and how many they usually interview? Just curious.

My interview is today @3pm. I interviewed last year, didn't get in:scrying: . I was soooo nervous last year, this year not so much. I know what to expect. Don't stress, be confident, not arrogant. I'll let you know how it goes.

Specializes in PICU, CVICU, IR Radiology, PICC.

Interviewed there today. After interviewing at Erlanger.......anything was better than that lol. They said they would let us know by next week. Erlanger said we wouldn't know until December! UAB makes their decision on who gets in thursday. Letters go out that day. We should hear from them by the first of next week.

We have 68 in our class, roughly 30 in the Birmingham component, the rest from the regional sites. Not sure about number of applicants.

Good luck!

Gatormac--thanks for the info! I had my interview yesterday, and I feel like it went fairly well. It was very laid back and I definitely felt at ease. It is hard to imagine that everyone wouldn't have had a similar experience! Oh well--they were to make their decisions today and send out letters Monday or Tuesday. Nothing to do now, but wait!!
