Trinitas or Mountainside?

Published

I will be taking the NET for Mountainside in the Fall. If all goes well, I'll be accepted for Fall '08.

THIS FAll I will be taking my last pre-requisits at Union College so that I will be able to start this Spring at Trinitas.

If I make it into Mountainside, should I go there or start at Trinitas in the Spring. When it comes down to it, it's only a matter of a semester difference time wise.

SO I really have to chose which I would like better. Any advice?

hey i graduated from trinitas.... best and worst experience of my life... they will grill you and beat you into a pulp... i know a couple people who left and went to mountainside and said it wasnt as bad... that being said... i wouldnt trade my trinitas education in for a dime... the school is only as good as what u put into it and trinitas forces you to put your whole life into it... any way u cut it up tho nursing school is not fun and or easy... if u have any more questions feel free to ask, my advice stick with trinitas... youll hate em now and love em later

Thanks for your reply, I just have a couple of questions about Trinitas..

I have heard horror stories about that school about getting into Nursing 130..like that I'll have to camp out the night before to register? Is that true?

Where you on a waiting list to get into Nursing 130..if you were that was your GPA at Union?

Also, the parking over there is horrible..do they have a parking lot? Is it the hopital's parking lot?

What do you mean that they beat you to a pulp? Are the clinical instructors mean? Do they have the "I don't give a crap about you" attitude?

Did you pass the boards yet? Does Trinitas help you with your rusume so you can get a hospital job?

Thanks! Sorry all the questions. I actually called Trinitas and gave my name and number for one of the students to call me back becasue I had a bunch of questions but no one called..LOL

Oh..one more question..the nursing courses there are three days a week right? One day lecture and two days clinical?

The registration process wass a pain in the ass i got right in no problem i transferred alot of credits from my bachelors degree however to some core curriculum classes at ucc.. gpa was pretty good i dont recall but def above a 3.6, parking was never a problem... ever. one day lecture 3 days clinical... beat u to a pulp meaning they will make u run the gauntlet for them,u need to kno ur stuff... resume.. should be the least of your worries right now... the last three graduating classes had a 100 percent pass rate on the nclex... 100% ... not bad odds of passing the nclex.. the clinical instructors i had were very good... finding a job will not be a problem... had tonds of offers when i graduated... and had tons of leverage in negotiating a salary altho ultimately i stuck with trinitas they were very good to me... and they still are...

its really good to hear that, Im a Trinitas student myself and I heard a lot of crap about them, not to mention friends in Seton hall telling me how bad of a hospital they are and how horrible the school is (sorry coulnt afford 50K tuition)I am really looking forward to working for them, if thats not to personal, how much did they offer you as a new grad??? just curious, thanks!

I will be startin at Mountainside this month. I have heard nothing but good things about the program. My experience with staff has been incredible. Never a problem. I recently did an orientation and saw/spoke with 7 2007 graduates who were hired at the hospital and they LOVED it. From someone who is currently there, I was told that the clinical instructors are GREAT as well as the professors. None are out to get you and you really do learn a lot. He also said that when hospital workers ask where the students are from, they are always more than happy to see the students from MHSON. There is no problem with parking since we use the parking garage and have our own access cards. Registration was a breeze. They do take credits from other schools, just make sure that you have organic, inorganic, and biochemistry. If not, you can take it concurrently with Nursing I. You start off with 2 clinicals and 2 lecture days a week which I think is good. They're last passing rate I believe was 99% and who did ot pass admitted to it being their own fault. Good luck to you!!

I think nursing schools everywhere put you threw hell. I just graduate from Ocean County College. I think its just the way they teach nurses.
