I am devastated my husband got transferred to Houston for his job. We should be moving in June. I am graduating in May with my ADN. I am currently in the 7th month of an externship and had a guaranteed job with the hospital I am currently at. Now I started looking at the job market in Houston and found out it is virtually impossible to get hired without a BSN. My question is will the fact I am directly enrolling in an RN-BSN program help? What about the fact I have been working on a floor in the hospital for 7 months? I have ruled out all of the major Houston hospitals until I get my BSN, but do I have luck in places like Sugar Land or Katy? Should I start applying now even if I can't start until May? I have so many questions, my world was just turned upside down. I can't be excited for the move until I know I have a job

Take a deep breath.
You are correct about the "BSN only" for new grads in effect for The Medical Center hospitals. However, there are many tertiary facilities outside of TMC. These facilities are not as restrictive. However, with your experience, you many no longer be categorized as a 'new grad' at all and most hospitals do hire experienced ADN nurses if they meet job requirements.
I would advise you to go ahead and start your job hunt... but ONLY after you have decided on an area in which to live. Trust me, you really don't want to have to be travelling across the city for your commute. Where will your hubby be working? That's a good place to start to explore. Will you be making some house-hunting trips as part of your relocation process? If so, it would be great if you could set up your interviews at that time -- or at least take a look at the facilities that you want to target.
You don't indicate where you are moving from... but if you are relocating from out of state, go ahead and start the Tx licensure process ASAP because it can take a while. June is a great month to move -- the real summer heat won't kick in until July/Aug - LOL.
Don't hesitate to PM me if I can provide any helpful information.
