Trach MAR

Hello everyone my facility just admitted our first Trach patient. I am looking for a MAR that is specific for trach care/management. TIA!

It doesn't appear your facility is prepared to care for its first trach patient. Was the room prepped/equipped? Are/were staff trained? Are supplies at the ready? Is a RT available or at the ready? Does the place even have a policy/procedure in place for trach care, to include infection control? It doesn't sound like it, else something so basic as a MAR or TAR would surely be detailed in the P/P. I'm just sayin'.

Yes Sam all of the above is in place and ready. We have a MAR in place however Since this is our first one I wanted to compare to ensure nothing was missed and now that I was able to compare with another facility that care for vent patients I see ours is up to par. Next time be more open minded instead of offensive and narrow minded. Thanks anyway!

Glad to hear here all is prepped and ready for the patient. I stand by the fact that the facility PP manual would be the best bet to determine what is required for the MAR, rather than a comparison of what another place might be using. That said- if you have suggestions to improve your own place's MAR, or whatnot, many places appreciate input from their staff as they strive to keep their PP up to par with current best practices. Some places have procedure manuals that don't even contain information on conditions or patient populations that they've never had in the facility before, but choose to admit anyway- and oftentimes it is the survey team that discovers that, first.

Our facility has an ambu bag at bedside and a new trach, just in case..it's our protocol.
