To call or not to call

I had a job interview on Wed, Feb. 11, 2009, and was told by the unit manager that they would get back to me "next week". It is now a week later and I have not received word one way or another from the manager. Would it be ok for me to call her back or do I just keep waiting? And if I do call, do I say right out did I get the job or how should that be worded? Any feedback would be MUCH appreciated.

This is a tough one. I usually call back on about a week to see what is going on... Usually it is HR that is the hold up on things... Does not hurt to show them that you are interested yet...

Agreed. Give them a call. You can ask if they need any information or can you clarify anything. Who does not want an eager employee?

I say give a call. I would just say something like:

Hi Mrs./Mr. ________. This is _____________________ calling. I interviewed for the _________ position on Feb 11th and I was just calling to thank you for the interview and check in to see if a decision has been made yet. If they say they haven't made a decision yet, I would say that you look forward to hearing from them. Be sure to tell him/her to have a great day. SMILE while you're talking. If you didn't get the position, be sure to thank them again for their time so you leave a good impression for a possible future interview.

Good luck!

Jen

i see nothing wrong with calling to touch base.

"hi _______________, this is ___________ and we interviewed last week re ____________.

i was wondering if any decisions have been made?"

keep it short, sweet yet personable.

nothing wrong at all, with showing your enthusiasm.

good luck to you!
