I am looking into doing some traveling and need some advice. Does anybody know where to get titers drawn? I need to get a copy of my titers. I know I had titers for nursing school but I do not know where the paperwork went.

Shot record is the best way to go. Titers are expensive.

If the company requires titers to show immunity then ask them to pay for them.

Where to go you ask?

You can set it up with any Family Practice or Internal Medicine physician. Be sure to ask your recruiter what titers they want in particular: DPT, MMR, Rubeola, Polio, Pertussis, Varicella, Hep A & B and so on.

Like I said THEY ARE expensive. Rarely are they covered by medical insurance so make sure the travel company is ready to pick up the bill or provide immunizations.

I asked my PCP and my insurance did pay for them.

I asked my PCP and my insurance did pay for them.

Wow, I wonder what ICD-9 codes they used to get them covered. There is almost no medical necessity for drawing the titers. Good for you. Awesome.

I think my lab bill totaled over $350.00 for the tests I listed above.

If you work for a hospital you can go to employee health and ask for you records from them, they normally check for titers before you can start working. I had to track down all my records for nursing shool and that's what I did. Alot of my classmates that didn't have insurance or did not want pay a fortune went to the local health department and it done there for a reasonable price.
