Make sure you know the basics of how the dialysis process works, and basics in the pathophys of ESRD. In other words, this will enable you to ask relevant questions during the interview.
As to your other question, each facility differs in how it trains newbies. Usual rule is two to three months.
I'm interested in working in a smaller office/ facility. I'd like to be part of a smaller team that works cohesively together. I think I'm more suited to that than large impersonal facilities.
The facility that I currently work In is large and there's no team work.
I am looking to get into a specialty instead of a LTAC or med Serg.
I have many days where I am now that I don't feel like I actually helped someone . Handing out pills isn't enough sometimes. I feel that nephrology is a field that would be a good for me.
