tips on stronger absn application

Published

Hi everyone! I am planning on applying to UMDNJ's accelerated nursing program. I have one more year left in undergrad and I am done with my major and minor requirements (I can't graduate because I only have 90 of the required 120 credits). I was wondering what electives would make my application stronger? I am/have taken the required courses already (A&P, Micro, stats, psych, soc, chem). and also requirements for other schools just in case (such as nutrition, ethics, developmental psych). Also, I know acceptance depends on how many applicants there are but how strong is my application? I am graduating from Rutgers (new brunswick) with about a 3.3 - 3.4 and I have about a 3.5 average in my pre-req classes. ANY advice would help. Thank You!!!!:D

You'll probably fine with your GPA and coursework, but you might want to take another science course or two to show you've "got the stuff". Have you had Chem II? I would recommend that before I would recommend O-Chem, because O-Chem is a killer course (I'm just finishing O-Chem II, so I'm a little biased. LOL). Maybe Human Biology if you haven't taken it, or an intro pharmacology course. Don't waste your time taking unneeded history, english, etc. It won't impress the school, sorry to say. The one exception to what I just said might be if you are SURE you can get an A in another non-science elective, it will help hike up your GPA. There, did I muddy that enough for ya? :)
