Tips for interviews

Published

I am about to graduate and will be ready to start looking for a job soon. I asked my preceptor what kind of tips she had for me during an interview. She said it was important to have some questions for them at the end to show interest in the job. I'm wondering what the most important things to know before going into an interview would be?

If it isn't mentioned in the interview, I recommend asking about patient:nurse ratio, how long is orientation, what type of system is used for documentation (electronic, handwritten, etc), what type of system do they have in place for medication administration, how many nurses/nurse's aides work on a shift, etc. You can pick which ones are more important to you and keep it to just a few.

I made a list on a piece of paper. If you get to the end of the interview and everything was pretty much covered, take a moment when they ask if you have any questions to look over the paper and say something like "It looks like you covered all the questions I had prepared."

GOOD LUCK!
