Hello all,
I had applied for a temporary job in my hospital (one of two full time for a year), and my interview was awful...no surprise that I didn't get the job, even in a union and all. No biggie, I have a permanent full time job in another department, just wanted a break and some new skills and stuff. Today, they've posted .2 of one of the positions (one day a week), and it's open to the public (not just internal).
I laughed, felt insulted for about two seconds, and my first thought was to apply, even if for spite...I'd love the experience, and they'd know that I really wanted to give it a try. I have several days to think about it before the posting comes down. Any thoughts??

Have you passed your probationary period? Was there a conflict between your current rotation and the rotation you applied for?
If the answer is no to these questions they are within their rights to refuse to hire you. If the answer is yes, well grieve it. That's what you pay union dues for.
But remember, how badly do you want the job. Is it worth grieving to get to work in a place that doesn't want you?
