thoughts on dietician and/or

Hey, I was just wondering as Ive always had a thing for the field of nutrition and diet. I'm a prenursing student though and I feel that trying out nursing was a good choice as there is more of a secure path to job opportunity.

What are your thoughts and opinions about the particular field, I'm just interested in knowing if anyone else was or is interested in the field of nutrition or diet; and what do you think about the projected job growth 📈😁

I have a degree in both and I'm a practicing RN. I got my degree in dietetics first and then went back to school to get my BSN. I never practiced as a dietitian honestly because of the job market. Just do a simple job search and you will find that there are not many dietitian jobs around. I also had experience as a diet aide in a large hospital system, and I decided it was not for me. I hate how RD's are not treated as part of the team and nurses feel they are the dietary experts (drives me CRAZY!).

As far as projected job growth in acute care, I don't think there is much due to the almighty dollar. In the fitness, corporate, business side (not nutrition side, food side) I think there is a ton of growth. I think the question to ask is where do you see yourself fitting in the job market? What do you like to do? Business, motivation, "nursey" things, and that could lead you down a better path.
