Thoughts on ABSN program in Chicago

Hello everyone,

I am debating about which school should I apply for and wondering if any of you have gone to these schools or know someone who graduated from these school. I want to know what your experience was like and if you would recommend these schools to others? How was the education and clinical sites? and What kind of things you guys did during clinicals?

My options are Resurrection University, Lewis University and Loyola. My first choice is Resurrection because it will be cheaper for me and also it is closer to my home. The  problem with Resurrection is that the college is on probation for 2nd year due to low NCLEX scores. I did speak to someone who went there and they had mixed opinion about it. If I go with Resurrection, I won't have to take any general ED classes since I have a BA degree and will be able to start in Fall 2021.

Loyola's advisor told me that I might have to take those general ED classes again because the classes I took before do not transfer over. They have good NCLEX scores but will be expensive for me because I would have repeat and pay out of pocket for those general ED classes.

I guess my question is Resurrection's program really that bad? Should I not consider it at all?

As a RN in Chicago I have worked with Resurrection students and many are smart and hard working. All nursing schools have their pros and cons. But it's a huge red flag that they have low NCLEX scores. What's the point of spending money for nursing school if you can't pass the exam that will make you a nurse? In my opinion, you should still apply to Resurrection. The school may go off probation this year. You want to have as many options as possible. Good luck!

Hi - I'm just looking for some input about those of you who are in the ABSN program at Loyola. I have been accepted to a couple of other nursing schools but am really interested in Loyolas ABSN program. Any insight you can give me on the program would be greatly appreciated! Good teachers?  Would love to hear your thoughts on the program! Thanks

Which school did you end up going to?
