This is a great board!!!

I only found this board recently and I'd just like to say, I really am enjoying it and think it's a terrific outlet for stress and to have those burning questions answered. I read just about all the posts and there is a lot of super nurses posting here. I see a lot of humor and frustration, courage and strength, many emotions BUT most of all, I can feel the caring. This is a rough profession we have chosen. I know all jobs are stressful in their own way. But when you deal with human life, it's unlike any other job. So much depends on each move we make. And even the simplist task can mean so much to someone. I quite honestly could never work in a hospital setting, it's just not my "cup of tea" but I have been on the other side of the bed and I greatly admire those of you that do keep our hospitals a safer and better place to be. Let's face it, we'll never be paid what we're really worth, but I honestly believe we will have an extra star in our crown, for not everyone can do what we do and keep their sanity. I have to laugh because sometimes I feel like I'm loosing my mind when I've got a doctor on the phone, a patient on the floor and a staff member trying to get my attention to give "Gramma a shot" cause she's tearing off her clothes in the lobby again. As nurse's, God gave us the ability to function in ten places at the same time, and all we can pray for is that we make only small mistakes, that harms no one. We aren't perfect but let most folks do what we do, and they'd put us up for "Saint of the Year". So as one nurse to another, I'd just like to say, "Thank you" for all the nurses in all the different fields, you are all great and the world is brighter, just because you are in it. May the good Lord bless you all and "Keep on posting cause I love reading them everynight when I get home". smile.gif

Duckie,

Thanks for the encouraging words. I just have to say that I don't think I can function OUTside of the hospital at this stage of my life!! Good thing our profession is made up of all different kinds of folks fulfilling all the different roles of nursing. We are all some pretty amazing people, aren't we? Helps put the pride back in saying "I'm a nurse."

I agree, I am an old timer on this board and I have been using it for cheap psycotheraphy for some time. I am like a different person since I started to post. Not long ago I depressed, withdrawn and overwhelmed.
