third shift job/hints

I will be starting a new job, Third shift at local hospital very close to my home. Previously I worked as unit secretary from 3-11 pm. Now i will be working 7 pm-7 am twice a week. Any suggestions on how to prepare myself for this as well as foods/snacks to take with me for break since cafeteria is closed and I will be working 12 hrs. My new job is clinical partner and i will be doing a lot more moving around which is an advantage to me at that hour rather than sitting.;)

Thank you.

That's really good that you will be able to move around. I work as a unit secretary/cardiac monitor tech which means that I am pretty much having to stay in one location unless I am relieved (amazing how one has to go to the bathroom more when they can't get up and go!!!).

I work 3 7 p-7a shifts (F, S, and S), and Fridays are my hardest because the night before I sleep like normal and then I'm finding myself watching the clock on Friday because I want to try to get a little nap in before having to leave for work. Sat and Sun I just go home and sleep 8 hours. I actually feel more rested. Mondays I am training myself to get a short nap and then I just take it easy during the day...

When I start school in January, I'm off on Mondays from School, but not Fridays so while I may feel more tired at work (although I can study at work), it should work out fine...worse comes to worse, I'll cut down to two days a week.

Nights can be hard on eating habits. Planning is important or it is very easy to order out for delivery which can be costly besides unhealthy.
