Thinking about going to ISU

Published

So currently I am enrolled with Excelsior, but the new changes and announcements are very upsetting. Really considering ISU and want to look into it more. I am an RRT looking to do the RN program completely online. Some questions I have are: If enrolled with ISU, do you like it and would you recommend this program? I am finishing up my masters in healthcare management and it is online and so I am used to online and love it. What about clinical check offs and clinical related issues? Any other information that someone could give me would be great. If I was told correctly, I should just need my core nursing courses so I was a little excited to know there were other options other than Excelsior out there and that it is cheaper.

I believe ISU is only LPN to RN/BSN not RRT. You do concurrent clinical & theory. The clinical is local and required that you secure your clinical contracts, though ISU has a list of facilities that have worked with students in the past.

The hybrid program is only for LPN to RN/BSN

The nursing courses are completed online/distance while the student secures a local preceptor to complete the corresponding clinical component locally. Paramedics and respiratory therapists are not eligible for this program.

Unlike EC where the nursing theory credits are completed either by challenge exams or online courses and the clinical competency is challenge tested over a weekend at the CPNE at the end of the program.

Candidates who have a bachelors degree in another discipline can apply to the ABSN program but it is campus based.
