Theft of property 3rd

There is someone who is applying to nursing school with me who had gotten arrested over 4 years ago for theft of property 3rd (misdemeanor) and it got dismissed at court. After reading different stories of people who have things on their record not getting into nursing school or getting denied when they go to get their license, it's a scary thing! does anybody have any experience with this? We're in Alabama if that matters.

Its done on a case by case. The board will look at the change, look at the evidence, talk to them and then decide, depending on the case they put the person on probationary license or don't let them sit for the nclex. The only reason I know this is because we had to sit in on several of these meetings and later some of the board members came to our school and did a presentation. It maybe different in your state though.

I didn't know what to say since the case was dismissed and I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

What about the background check for clinical sites?

A clinical site has the right to deny you the chance to perform clinicals there based on your criminal record. I don't know if dismissals come up on background checks.
